Shazhou Night Market
Dunhuang, Dunhuang
Dunhuang's night bazaar: luminous cups, dried apricots, camel toys, and silk-road trinkets.
Shazhou Night Market is where Dunhuang's day ends: a grid of stalls selling the city's famous luminous cups - thin jade-green goblets that glow in candlelight - plus dried apricots, camel-hair crafts, and every silk-road souvenir imaginable.
Haggle politely, and tap a cup before buying - a clear ring means good jade. Then eat your way through the food section: grilled lamb skewers, apricot porridge, and the same donkey meat noodles you will find across town.
Best for: Souvenirs and street food after dark.
