Panxi is a restaurant built as a Lingnan garden: covered bridges, rockeries, and dining pavilions arranged around Liwan Lake, with lotus in summer and lanterns at dusk. It opened in 1947 and still serves the full Cantonese canon.
Order the dim sum at lunch or the lake-view banquet at night. The moon-viewing pavilion is the room to request, and the view is the best table in Guangzhou.
