Yunxiao Road Seafood
Shinan, Qingdao
Qingdao's beer-and-seafood street: shellfish by the kilo, washed down with draught straight from the brewery.
Yunxiao Road is Qingdao's loud, happy answer to dinner: rows of restaurants and stalls under strings of lights, selling clams, prawns, and oysters pulled from the Yellow Sea that morning, all with ice-cold draught Tsingtao - some of it literally piped from the brewery nearby.
Pick the busiest place, point at the tank, and order the grilled squid. The beer arrives in plastic jugs, which is part of the charm.
Best for: Shellfish and brewery-fresh beer on a neon street.
