Yin Xi Teahouse

Yin Xi (Hidden Creek) designs teahouses as retreats from Shanghai's noise: bamboo courtyards, floor-to-ceiling tea cabinets, and a menu organized by origin rather than price. Brewing is done at your table with proper gaiwan technique, and the staff will happily teach first-timers the three-second pour.

Each location has private rooms for long conversations and a selection of cakes and seasonal fruit to accompany the leaves. It is the version of 'Chinese tea house' that feels designed for a foreigner's first encounter: quiet, beautiful, and entirely without ceremony anxiety.
