Three Pagodas
Dali Old Town, Dali
Three thousand-year-old pagodas in front of Cangshan's peaks - the most iconic silhouette in Yunnan.
The Three Pagodas have stood before the Cangshan range since the Tang dynasty, their geometry unchanged for a thousand years. The central pagoda rises 69 meters; the two companions lean slightly, like old friends. Behind them, the reflection pool frames the perfect shot.
Go in the morning when the light hits the mountain, and walk through the Chongsheng Temple behind before the tour buses arrive.
Best for: Yunnan's most iconic photograph, pagodas and mountain.
