Longjing Village Tea
Xihu, Hangzhou
Walk the terraced Longjing tea fields, then drink this season's harvest in a village farmhouse.
Longjing Village sits in the hills west of West Lake, its terraces striped with the tea bushes that produce China's most famous green tea. In spring you can pick alongside the farmers; year-round you can sit in a village house and drink the current harvest with the family who grew it.
Take the bus to the village entrance, follow the terraces up, and stop at any courtyard with a table. The tea is pricey and worth it.
Best for: China's most famous tea, from the bush to your cup in one afternoon.
